About Lessons

Infant Swimming Resource’s proprietary Self-Rescue® program is a 4-8 week course, scheduled 4 days per week, Monday through Thursday, for 10 minutes each day.  

With a focus on safe, customized, one-on-one lessons by Certified Instructors, we emphasize health, ongoing program evaluations and parent education to deliver the most effective and safest results in the industry.  Children may begin lessons as young as 6 months of age.         

Lessons for your 6 – 12 months old (sometimes up until 14 months old) are focused on teaching your child to roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives.  

Lessons for your older child focus on teaching the swim-float-swim sequence.  Children learn to swim with their head down, roll onto their back, rest and breathe, and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the edge of the pool, where they can either crawl out or wait until help arrives.

Once the children are fully skilled they will practice ISR’s survival techniques fully clothed during lessons. It is recommended that children complete refresher lessons to help their in-water skill level grow with their physical development.

Lesson Schedule

Our lesson schedule is a little crazy- not even going to lie! Christy has been teaching in this area for (gulp) 14 years! Therefore, she has a lot of word of mouth referrals- and lots of repeat business- which is awesome! She tends to book VERY fast when her schedule is released. For this reason, it is VERY important for you to understand how the booking process works. 

Please make sure ALL in pool lesson questions, inquiries, etc are directed to Christy. She is the Certified Instructor who will provide you answers. McKenna is a mom first…so please understand she will get back with you within 24 hours of your inquiry. 

Once your TARGET start day and time  is booked, we ask that you complete your non refundable, non transferable deposit (equal to one week of your lesson fee) within 24 hours to solidify your slot. Any TARGET slot that isn’t confirmed by deposit, will be forfeited. Please remember, once you make that deposit you’re agreeing to that TARGET start day/time. Some cushion is built into the session dates to account for rain out days, sick days, etc.- however, life happens.  You will be kept notified via email when your TARGET date/time moves- sometimes one-two weeks. 

As your lesson nears, we will reach out to you to ensure your ISR paperwork is complete. Registration for new ISR students is $105/year, returning students will be charged $35 per student. Your ISR paperwork should not be completed sooner than six months before your lesson start date. Your child registration MUST be approved by the ISR Registration Evaluation Team before we can get in the water. Once your registration is submitted, it takes three business days for the RET to review. Therefore, please make sure you complete this process at least one week prior to your TARGET start day/time.

Please remember, we cannot swim when there is bad weather in the area. Of course, you don’t pay for lessons that are missed due to Christy cancelling for any reasons…however, many times parents get frustrated when they have scheduled 4pm lessons during summer months…and we cancel them due to the safety protocols.  Please make sure you take everything into consideration before you book your lesson.

Christy is a traveling instructor, coming to your home pool or community pool.  We also have a host pool that we can use in the Lutz area.

Available lesson times are from 6:30am-8:30am and again from 3pm-7pm.

Pricing Information

ISR Instructors are independent contractors- therefore, we have the ability to charge different rates. Many times, these rates are based off of the instructor’s experience, location, level of certification and demand. My lesson fee depends on the location of your pool. Therefore, please reach out to me to determine pricing information. 

You will be charged a deposit equal to one week of your determined lesson fee when you choose your time on our schedule. This is a non refundable and non transferable fee that will be used towards your first week of lessons. Please remember, you are choosing a TARGET start date and time- nothing is “confirmed” until a few days prior to the Monday your lesson begins.
